Kedarkantha Trek

  The name Kedarkantha means, approximately, "The Throat of Lord Shiva." It is a mountain that is located 20 kilometres from the settlement of Sankri and is 12,500 feet tall. The Pandavas reportedly visited Lord Shiva to seek his blessings following the battle of Kurukshetra. In order to avoid meeting them, Lord Shiva pretended to be a buffalo. When Bheem detected something odd in the buffalo herd, he wouldn't let the masked buffalo pass. The two then started fighting as a result. The Pandavas allegedly built shrines wherever pieces of Bheem's body fell after he allegedly tore the buffalo apart. It appears that his throat hit Kedarkantha.
